Dr. Joaquin E. Jimenez is a pediatric otolaryngologist with the Division of Otolaryngology (ENT) at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He earned his medical degree and a concurrent master’s degree in genomic medicine from University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, during which time he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism honor societies. Dr. Jimenez completed residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

He has several clinical interests in addition to general pediatric otolaryngology. These include congenital cysts and benign or malignant tumors of the head and neck, thyroid, parotid and submandibular glands, salivary gland disease, vascular anomalies of the head and neck including hemangiomas, lymphatic malformations, venous and arteriovenous malformations, pediatric sinus disease, cystic fibrosis-related sinus disease, choanal atresia, pyriform aperture stenosis, benign and malignant pediatric skull base tumors, endoscopic airway surgery for laryngeal cleft and laryngomalacia, and laryngeal reinnervation for vocal fold paralysis.

Dr. Jimenez is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and a fellow member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology. He has presented at national conferences, authored chapters in medical textbooks and published his work in peer-reviewed journals.

He is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

The Division of Otolaryngology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital offers comprehensive care for children with a full range of ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions. Whether for management of routine ENT problems that can be treated in the office, or more complex diseases of the head and neck requiring surgical intervention in the operating room, the team offers consultation and treatment services to address each child’s individual care needs. The otolaryngology team is proud to be part of the Nicklaus Children’s Craniofacial Center care team, participating in multidisciplinary care clinics to maximize convenience for families of children with facial differences.
